Daisy Troop 6249 Deliver Sweet Treats
Monday, April 20th, 2020

Firefighters and fire police received a sweet donation from Daisy Troop 6249. The scouts presented our response team with an assortment of Girl Scout cookies and recognized our members as their Hometown Heroes. The troop, which meets at Neffs Union United Church of Christ, is comprised of girls in Kindergarten and First Grade who go to Schnecksville and Ironton Elementary Schools in the Parkland School District. Thank you to the scouts, leaders, and parents who helped make their gift possible!

When a girl becomes a Girl Scout, she's also a G.I.R.L. — Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader. She develops essential life skills — goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills, and business ethics — all while soaring in confidence and practicing leadership the Girl Scout way to lift one another up and change the world, together.

Our department was fortunate to recruit four additional members to our Junior Emergency Responder Program in 2019, and two are young women. While not everyone may want to become a volunteer firefighter, it is important to help spark interest within a young generation about providing community service. If you are interested in volunteering, please visit our Contact Us page (http://schnecksvillefd.org/contact.html). In addition to offering the ability to become a firefighter or fire police officer, other ways to serve the community include offering simple refreshments on the fire ground, helping make or serve food at our fundraising events, helping with grounds maintenance to protect the community’s investment, and helping ensure our facilities are prepared before events and restored afterward. As we are a large organization with many different areas of responsibility, almost everyone has a skill they can contribute. We look forward to hearing from you!
